"Bench Exhibit - An exhibit is plant material with or without accessories, contained within a space specified. Plant material should predominate over all other components used. Living plant material when cut must be in water or water retaining material with the exception of other water retaining plant material e.g. fruit, vegetables. BENCH - "FRUGALITY  1"
Flower Arranging for Competition Frugality 1
Frugality is an area where you can find many ideas on the internet.

To my mind, the best interpretation of frugality in floral art can be found in ikebana.

I have used a simple square green marble container held in a black metal stand as the base of this arrangement. Rather than oasis here I have used a heavy metal frog as there will be a minimum of plant material. This will also hold the semi-hollow dahlia stems more securely in position.

Three pieces of tortured willow and three dahlia flowers (all from the one stem, how frugal was I?) complete this simple yet showy arrangement.

The placement of material in ikebana styles is what tells the story of the arrangement. There are many great websites that can provide you with more information on this very precise style.
