BENCH
- "CONTEMPORARY FUN WITH STICKS"
This exhibit was judged from the front and side with a space allocation of 1m square.
This was my first attempt at a contemporary design so I went with a simple interpretation. I used the internet to find what were the trends at the time.
Using sticks of varying thickness I wrapped each with wool in the colours theme of the floral material. The top of each stick has a couple of glitter beads pinned through to the stick.
As a contrast to the sticks I have a weathered banksia cone still on the branch the same thickness as the other sticks being used. The single flower used is an agapanthus with some of the florets open and others still in bud giving the appearance of a collection of small individual flowers with tall thin wispy melaleuka foliage to the back of the arrangement.
The container is a narrow timber box, the centre has a piece of wet (green) oasis for the floral material and the sides have dry (grey) oasis for the sticks. Coloured smooth stones were used to cover the oasis in the container.
