Outback Safari's to Nature Studies

In that time I have done everything for organising outback safaris for tourists, to making detailed studies of some of Australia’s unique floral and fauna. I am currently involved in compiling a photo diary of the Australian Bower Bird. I tracked one down only this morning.

Now to get to the point, in all my years trekking through the bush I found one of my most important pieces of equipment in my kit was a comfortable folding camping chair.

I must have tried hundreds of different types of camping chairs over the years, some were good, others well…. frankly they could have been better.

Of all of these camping chairs, not one ever came close to giving me everything I needed.

Backpack Friendly, Comfortable & Green

I wanted a camping chair I could backpack if required, so it had to be light weight. I needed a chair that I could sit in for hours, comfortably and quietly. My chair had to be simple and not prone to break down when the going got tough. Last but not least I wanted something that was pleasing to the eye and sympathetic to the environment, no plastic or synthetic materials, I wanted it to be made out of Australian plantation hard wood.

After years of searching and investing in so many different kinds of camping and back packing chairs, I found that what I wanted was a very tall order indeed.

I finally concluded to get exactly what I wanted, the only option left to me was to make the ideal folding camping chair for myself. You can see the fruit of my labour, my “Ezy Chair” pictured in the images and video above.

Now to give you a little background as to why I took it upon myself to solve the camping chair problem, the answer is this. By profession I am a master Cabinet Maker, I have worked with my hands creating beautiful furniture for most of my adult life. I love it.

I Love Working With TImber
